ANTONINO GIACCONE Obituary
GIACCONE, ANTONINO "TONY" "JO JO" 70 - of Ventnor, passed away suddenly Thursday, Apri1 15, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Antonino was born on November 7, 1939, to Domenica and Giuseppe in Campofiorito, Sicily. Working alongside his father in a small farming village, he developed a life lasting, unsurpassed work ethic, which carried him through his life's journey. Antonino always sought a better life for his family, adventuring to Frankfurt, Germany; Brooklyn, New York and later to Ventnor, where he settled to build his family and business. In 1972 he established Jo Jo's Pizzeria in Pleasantville; which grew into a local landmark. Tony embraced the community, treating customers and employees like family. His generosity, strong family values, love of his work, cheerful personality and sense of humor were the root of his success both at work and at home. His presence will always be felt as his family continues his dream. Tony cherished his family and his passion for life could be seen in his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Rita, three children, Giuseppe (Joe) and his wife Dawn; Anthony and his wife Stacy; and Domenica (Diane) and her husband Rick. He will sadly be missed by his eight grandchildren, Jessica, Anthony, Samantha, Nick, Hanna, Sara, Jack and Gabriel, and his brothers and sisters Giuseppe, Nina, Pietro, Nicola, Gina, Emilio, and Eugenio, as well as many other family members, loved ones and friends. Please join us as we celebrate Antonino's life on Tuesday evening, April 20th, 6-9 p.m., at the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, 1707 New Road, Linwood, or Wednesday, April 21st, 9 a.m. viewing and 10 a.m. mass at St. James Catholic Church, south Newport and Atlantic Avenues, Ventnor. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Rt. 40, Mays Landing. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Pleasantville Police Athletic League to help continue his legacy in the community. Tony was one of my valued customers over many, many years. And, in conversations with him over these years, it was so very evident his love of his dear family. Tony was a very special man . . . Dear, Rita,Joe, Anthony,Diane and Family, I was shocked to know of Mr.G Tony's passing. During the 15 years I worked for him, He taught me more about being a man and taking care of your family than anyone in my life. He was kind and gentle. I respected him and loved him like a father. OMG...My ENTIRE family grew up on JO-JO’s and even after we moved away from P’ville, whenever we came home to visit we NEVER left Jersey w/o stopping in Jo-Jo’s (we even place orders via phone to be shipped across the country)..God’s Blessing to the Family, and GOD BLESS POP!

Dearest Anthony and Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time. Losing a parent is devastating and even more so when it happens suddenly. Only time will heal the pain that you are feeling now. Tony was one of a kind. I have alot of beautiful memories going to JO JO as a teenager in the old location. Now I have made new memories at the the new location with my grandsons. To the family thank you for share Tony with my family. He WILL be missed.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I started to go into "Tony's" place at the old locale when I was in Grade school in the early 70's. Later in the 80's I worked for Him for Years. Whenever I get in Atlanitc County I still stop in for a sub. I wish all of His Children, Wife and Extended Family Strength and comfort at this time. He was a very good Provider for his Home Family and Workers. A wise, and Hands on Business man. The Giacconie Family Has to be verry Proud of HIm. He has my Respect. God Bless!

To Rita, Joe, Anthony and Diane.
I found out this morning of this great loss. I grew up with all of you and have loved you all and your Dad like family. He is my Uncle Tony.
Your Mom always gave me great advice on becoming a lady and your Dad watched me like a hawk at the Resturant. He taught me hard work and integrity you can never have too much of. I never missed a chance to see him at JoJo's when i was visiting from Miami.
My favorite memory was when they visited us in Miami and i could cook him Dinner in our home. He loved the bread and the Cuban cigar i had waiting for him. : - ). Tears have fallen from the sky all day here in Miami. In honor of "Uncle Tony" God bless you! Remember you have your family and home here in Miami.
