ELIZABETH HOWELL Obituary

HOWELL, ELIZABETH V. "BETTY" "BABE" 94 - of Absecon and Meadowview Nursing Home, surrounded by the love of her family, rose peacefully into the arms of the Lord on March 22, 2011. She was the last of her generation from both sides of her family. She possessed the ability to make all around her feel important and always had an ear to lend or hand to hold. Her warm smile and dark blue eyes could lighten up any room. Being active in Absecon VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 9462 and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 28, she held several local and county offices. While at Meadowview, she served on the Senior Advisory Committee, where she was elected to the office of president for five years. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Harold (Chief) Howell in 1976. Left to carry on her memories are her children: Jacqueline (Jackie) Howell, Elizabeth (Betty) Howell (Dick Hudson, Jr.) of Absecon and Harold (Hal) D. Howell (Sherry Williams) of Galloway Twp. and her precious grandchildren, Mary (Josh), Dan and Jessie. Family and friends may call Monday, April 4th from 6-8pm, and Tuesday, April 5th from 9-10am, followed by a service at 10am at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 9462, PO Box 136, Absecon, NJ or the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.

Jackie, BJ and Harold,

I am so sorry to learn of Aunt Babe's passing. I know that she is now with Uncle Hal and my parents, Shirley and Doc. I can see Uncle Hal and my dad, sitting nearby, listening to my Mom, Aunt Babe, Lorraine and Henrietta talking away about everything and anything.
Our familes go back together a long time....before our mothers met and became best friends when Mom was 3 and Aunt Babe was 5. Thinking about some of the stories I heard from my parents (and yours), I know they really were life-long friends! I know we now have four guardian angels!
