GEORGE BOONE Obituary



BOONE, GEORGE 69 - of Atlantic City, passed away on January 18, 2010 after battling a lengthy illness. He was born on February 6, 1941 to Jack and Dessie Boone in Gates, North Carolina. He grew up in the Holland, VA area where he attended the public schools and completed the Nansemond County Training School. After school he went to work at the naval shipyard in Portsmouth, VA. As a young adult he moved to Atlantic City where in 1967 he met and married Hannah (nee Rice). From their union were born two daughters Lori and Kimberly. A beloved husband, father and grandfather, he was also a hard worker employed by the Ginsburg Bakery for many years. Later he worked in the casino industry and retired from the Claridge Hotel Casino. George was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and car enthusiast with a dry sense of humor. He loved watching Saturday morning westerns and taking trips to Virginia to see his family. He will be missed. He was preceded in death by his father Jack Boone and sisters Adell Cross and Elsie Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 43 years, Hannah of Atlantic City, daughters Lori Boone of Smithville, Kimberly Boone of Atlantic City and Tititia Plummer (William) of Northfield, special son-in-law Kenny Doughty: Grandchildren Brandon Burgess, Latoya Woods Elliot, Kiana Doughty, Kennedy Doughty, Glenn Plummer, and Marcus Plummer; his mother Dessie Coston of Suffolk, Va, one brother Clarence Boone of Colorado Springs, CO, sisters Mildred Boone Dillard of Portsmouth, VA, Nell Boone Smith (Alvin) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Catherine Boone Hamilton of Portsmouth, VA., his Aunt Mary Louise Boone of Gates, NC, brother-in-laws Allen Rice and Eugene Rice of Brooklyn, NY, and Artis Ashley of Atlantic City, a special niece Donna Woodlin and caretaker Tamika Harrington, as well as a host of relatives and friends. A Celebration of George's life will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at the All Wars Memorial Bldg. A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, EHT, NJ. Professional services are entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Inc., 414 South Main St., Pleasantville, NJ (609)383-9994.
