Granville Pugh Obituary

Mr. Granville Pugh Jr., 58, of 1737 Young's Road, Petersburg, Va., departed this life on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011.

He was born March 16, 1952, in Petersburg, Va., to the late Granville Sr. and Elizabeth Pugh.

Mr. Pugh was a 1971 graduate of Petersburg High School. He also attended John Tyler Community College. He then began a career in the United States Army. Mr. Pugh was employed with Kaiser Aluminum for 38 years until his health declined.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 20 years, Annie Pugh; son, Derwin Moore of Maryland; goddaughter, Yolanda Lyons of Petersburg, Va.; five sisters, Gloria and Estelle Pugh of Richmond, Va., Roxianne Richmond of Maryland, Va., Jean Harris of Cincinnati and Ruth Gaines (Arthur) of Colorado; one brother, Michael Pugh of Alaska; devoted nieces, Tammy Smith and Tonya Fountain of Richmond, Va.; four sisters-in-law, Eva Boyd, Ester Andrews of Petersburg, Va., Ruth Powell (Lloyd) of Dewitt, Va. and Shelia Johnson of Richmond, Va.; four brothers-in-law, James Johnson (Val) of Milwaukee, Wis., Charles Johnson (Nancy) of Petersburg, Va., Lewis Johnson of Dewitt and William Johnson Jr. of Newport News, Va.; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, among them devoted, Michael Blowe (Angie) of Prince George, Va., Robert Goode and James Cole, both of Petersburg, Va., and the Sloan family and the Hobbs family.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at the chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, Va., the Rev. Herbert Holly II, pastor-elect of St. John Baptist Church, Stony Creek, Va., eulogist. The interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
