Iris Bugg Obituary

On Saturday, July 24, 2010, our Heavenly Father called home His beloved daughter, Minister Iris Rose Fitzgerald Bugg (Sugar Lump), 66, of 25815 Dinwiddie Avenue, Petersburg, Va., at the Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va.

She was born on April 18, 1944, in Petersburg, Va., to the late Ralph Edward Fitzgerald and Eliza Jones Fitzgerald. She received her early education through the Petersburg Public School System and later through Hempstead New York University were she received her L.P.N. license. She retired as a L.P.N. at Southside Virginia Training Center and also a L.P.N. teacher from Pioneer Nursing School.

She was blessed with a beautiful voice that she shared with others through her loved for the Lord Jesus Christ. She was a member of the Bible Way Christian Center, where she was a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. She was a member of the gospel group, The Gateway Singers. She was a Holy Ghost filled women of God who loved the Lord. She always was willing to spread the gospel to others. She was a very wonderful women, who loved to bake pies. She will be missed by her family very much and one grandchildren that she helped raise, Tevin whom she was raising until her failing health.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Bugg, Jr.; two brothers, Glen R. Fitzgerald and Alonzo K. Fitzgerald; two sisters, Barbara F. Hill and Patricia E. Isselmou; two stepbrothers, Joseph Balthrop and Sonny Balthrop and an aunt, Mildred Hunt.

She leaves to cherish her memories, three children, Carolyn B. Dillard (Rico) and Todd C. Bugg (Yolanda) both of Petersburg, Va., and Andre K. Bugg (Marquelle) of Stony Creek, Va.; one sister, Shirley F. Taylor; five brothers, Ralph E. Fitzgerald, Jr. (Sarah) of Bronx, N.Y., Jessie L. Fitzgerald (Elizabeth) of Winter Park, Fla., Stanley W. Fitzgerald of Washington, D.C., Linwood E. Fitzgerald (Mildred) of Petersburg, Va., and Steve Fitzgerald (Joann) of Waldorf, Md.; stepmother, Lin Fitzgerald of Waverly, Va.; one stepsister, Argie Williamson (Johnny) of Flint, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Teresa C. Fitzgerald of Petersburg, Va., and Mary B. Powe of Waverly, Va.; one brother-in-law, Thomas Bugg of Waverly, Va.; grandchildren, Michael Taylor, Marlo Taylor, Todd McNair (Gabby), David Greene, Da'von Greene, Toddric Bugg, Ty'Quan Bugg, Toddaryl Brown, Jada Brown, DeAndre Raines, DyShawn Sympston, Aundrea Bugg, Shauquita White, Shayla White and three devoted, Latoya Gilchrist, Tevin Mason and Anyae Bugg; three great-grandchildren, TyQuan Whiting, Omari Gilchrist, Ma'Kayla; three godchildren, and a host of nieces, one devoted, Janice Hollemon, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends, to include two devoted, Minister Patricia Farrar and Sister Nancy Brennan.

Special thanks to all, Dr. V.J., Southside Regional Medical Center Staff 2-East for a wonderful job, Healthsouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Petersburg, Dinwiddie Health Rehabilitation Center and Hospice of Virginia. Thanks to Tabernacle Baptist Church Hospital Visitation Ministry and Deaconess and the Bible Way Christian Center.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 418 Halifax Street, Petersburg, Va. The Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs Sr., Pastor and Elder Michael Johnson, Officiating. Interment will follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
