Lucy Jennings Obituary
Mrs. Jennings was preceded in death by her husband, Alton C. Jennings; father, William McKinley Batts Sr.; sisters, Ladeva Harper and Jacqueline Woods; grandmother, Lula Belle mother-in-law, Hibernia Jennings; father-in-law, Joseph Jennings Sr.; brother-in-law, Joseph Jennings Jr.
Mrs. Jennings leaves to cherish her memory, loving and devoted children, Cheryl Batts and Michael Ellis both of Petersburg, Va., and Bianca Johnson (Troy) of Hopewell, Va.; a mother, Dorothy L. Haskins of Petersburg, Va.; sisters, Barbara Andrews (Terry) of Chesterfield, Va., Denise Curry and Consuella Jackson both of Alabama; brothers, William "Kenny" Batts Jr. of Petersburg, Va., George "Eddie" Batts (Cecelia) of Chesterfield, Va., and Reginald Jackson of Alabama; grandchildren, (loving and devoted) Eboni D. Jones, Jamar Tidwell, Deonte Ward, and Sophie Wiggins all of Petersburg, Va.; a devoted uncle, Frank O. Belle of Petersburg, Va.; god-son, Kareem Bond (Milen) of Maryland; aunt, Marjorie Thompson; sisters-in-law, Pauline Perkins of Florida and Daisy Jennings both of Petersburg, Va.; a brother-in-law, Albert "Peanut" Harper of Petersburg, Va.; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, very devoted, Maxcine Hayden and Family, Iretha Maclin, Wayne Jones, Charmaine Moore, Nancy Bond Prude, the McKensie Family, the Shield Street Neighbors, and many others too numerous to name.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 418 Halifax Street, Petersburg, Va., with the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs Sr., pastor, eulogist. The interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at 919 Shield St., Petersburg, Va., and may be contacted by calling (804) 733-6829.
