Christine Farmer Obituary
Born in Cottonwood, Ala., Mrs. Farmer moved to Virginia in 1953. Shortly after settling in Virginia, Mrs. Farmer became part owner of Farmer's Transmission Service and Farmer's Grocery Store; two successful family owned and operated establishments in Colonial Heights and Chesterfield, Va., for more than 30 years. Mrs. Farmer was preceded in death by her parents, Irby and Resie Oliver, and husband of 37 years, David E. Farmer.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Farmer-Forehand and son-in-law, Larry M. Forehand, of Colonial Heights; four grandchildren, David L. Forehand of Sarasota, Fla., Kathy Forehand-Tyler, Christopher W. Forehand and Joshua P. Forehand, all of Colonial Heights, Va.; seven great-grandchildren, Devon E. Forehand and Abigail Lara-Jean Forehand of Sarasota, Fla., Haley K. Tyler, Casey E. Tyler, Logan M. Forehand, Teresa L. Forehand and Adrienne J. Forehand, all of Colonial Heights, Va.; one brother; three sisters; three special sisters-in-law, Kathleen Hoyle of Colonial Heights, Va., Mattie Birchette of Hopewell, Va., and Myrtice Farmer of Chesterfield, Va.; numerous great-nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, Va. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Cremator,y 2033 Boulevard. My deepest sympathy to the Family. Everytime Logan would say Grandmother, there would be a sparkle in her eye. Christine loved my little baby and Logan loved her. I will always be grateful that Logan was blessed to be loved by Grandmother and made memories with her. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
