Mary Basl Obituary
She was the daughter of the late John P. Janosik and his wife, Emily E. Mentlik. She was the widow of Edward T. Basl Sr.
Mrs. Basl is survived by her children, Edward Thomas Basl Jr. (Tommy) and his wife, Bonita, Bonnie Hardy and husband, Bill, Donald Basl and girlfriend, Patricia, Ronald Basl and wife, Claudia; grandsons, Donte Hardy, Michael Basl, Sean Hardy and Lee Basl; great-grandson Zachary Hardy; a brother, John P. Janosik of Delaware.,She was preceded in death by her son, David Basl; her sister, Evelyn Brown; and a brother, William Janosik. Her caregiver of three years, Melissa Tatum, was also a special part of her family.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2011, at the home of Mary Basl to honor and share memories. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Prince George Emergency Crew, P.O. Box 308, Prince George, VA 23875, or the Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23805. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Petersburg Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.

Bonnie,
I was so sorry to hear about your Mom. I will cherish the fond memories of the time I spent at your home as a teenager. Your Mom was the best cook; she taught me to bake her famous pecan buns. She was a gentle and loving person and she will be missed by all who knew her.
