Adrian Rawlings Obituary

Ms. Adrian A. Rawlings, 32, departed this life suddenly Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009. Adrian was born May 9, 1977, to the late Aaron Sr. and Shirley Butts Rawlings. She was a graduate of Petersburg High School and was employed in the Dining Hall at Virginia State University. Ms. Rawlings was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Petersburg. She was preceded in death by her sister, Alicia Rawlings Samuda.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her step mother, Cheryl Rawlings; her sister, India Rawlings; her brother, Aaron Rawlings Jr.; five uncles, Joseph, Robert (Barbara) and Dr. Yvonne Rawlings, James (Patty) and Ray (Barbara) Butts; seven aunts, Rebecca Pritchett (Edward), Tina Simmons, Charmin Truly, Barbara Shaw (Charles) Bettie Saunders (Tom), Martha Wurah (Frank) and Joyce Harris (Edward); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers, devoted friends and relatives, Meco Jolley, Christine Brown, Kendra Moore and Robert Truly Jr. of Maryland.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at the Chapel of William N. Bland and Son Funeral Home, Petersburg, with the Rev. Dr. Yvonne Rawlings officiating. The interment will be in Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, Disputanta. The remains of Ms. Rawlings may be viewed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Turner-Bland Funeral Home, Hopewell, and from 9 a.m. Friday till the time of service at William N. Bland and Son Funeral Home. The family will assemble at the Petersburg Chapel one hour prior to the service.
