Ann Heath Raney Robertson, 94, died peacefully at home on Nov. 12, 2009.
She was born on Dec. 13, 1914, to the late Augustus Monroe and Annie Jolly Raney of Smoky Ordinary. Ann moved to Petersburg at age 6 to be raised by her Aunt Wilma and Uncle John Jolly and remained a lifelong resident. She was a 1936 graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman's College with a degree in English Literature. A devoted member of Christ and Grace Episcopal Church, Ann served on the Altar Guild and was a founding member of the Wednesday morning Bible Study. She was a dedicated volunteer for CONTACT, a 24-hour telephone ministry. Ann was proud to be a member of Daughters of the American Colonists, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the American Association of University Women.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Richard G. Robertson Sr.; son, Richard G. Robertson Jr.; granddaughter, Christa Suzanne Robertson; sister, Florence Brockwell; and brothers, John Raney and Emmett Raney.
Ann is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Debbie Robertson; daughter and son-in-law, Ann Foster Robertson and Bruce Puckett; granddaughter, Erin R. Neuman and husband, Patrick; brother, Gus Raney and wife Pat; and sister, Sue Ingram and husband John.

Friends and family will be received Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life and reception will be held Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Christ and Grace Episcopal Church.
