Desdemona Washington Obituary

Ms. Desdemona A. Washington, age 56, of 309 Blackwater Drive, Petersburg, departed this life Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at her residence.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mary J. Washington and Ernest B. Washington. She was a graduate of the Petersburg High School Class of 1972 and a 1977 graduate of Virginia State College, where she obtained a B.S. degree in education, and in 1979 a master's degree in special education. Ms. Washington was retired. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Deborah M. Washington.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her spouse, Robert Hughey; son, Joel Hughey Sr.; her grandchildren, Joel and Jordan Hughey; her devoted sister, Brenda Coleman ( James) Hopewell; her brother, Ernest B. Washington Jr. (Diane), Petersburg; two aunts, Lillie Mae Bonner Sidney (deceased), Church Road, Bertha Pryor of Sutherland; one uncle, Harrison Bonner Jr. (Virgie) of Petersburg; and number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held noon Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God in Christ, located at 233 Halifax St., Petersburg, Va. The Rev. Jeffery Dodson Sr. will officiate the homegoing celebration. The interment will be held at Dinwiddie Memorial Park, Dinwiddie. The family will assemble at 11 a.m. at 309 Blackwater Drive, Petersburg, on the day of the service. Condolences may sent to our website, www.blandenterprisesinc.com.
