Gene Hammond Obituary
He was the son of the late William H. Hammond Sr. and Minnie Harrison Davis, and was preceded in death by a brother, William H. (Bill) Hammond Jr., and a sister, Frances H. Williams. Mr. Hammond was a retired operator with Allied Signal.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Florence D. Hammond; two sons, James P. Hammond and wife, Diana L., of Colonial Heights, and Gene (Rocky) Hammond Jr. and wife, Teresa K., of Colonial Heights; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; a sister, Martha H. Woolfolk of Colonial Heights; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Rev. Dr. Andrew Brockelman officiating. Interment Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to Colonial Heights Fire & EMS, P.O. Box 3401, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.

Gene and I worked together for almost 30 years. In this time we became very good friends, and shared a love for automobiles. He made a lot of bad days at Allied easer to cope with. I will miss him, his jokes, his chevy's, and most of all his friendship.
