George Keys Obituary

Mr. George Keys, affectionately known as "Keystone", "Donald Duck"and "Bubba", 72, of 22916 Walker's Mill Road, Stony Creek, Va., entered into eternal rest Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital. He was the son of the late Henry and Jennie Ann Parham Keys. He was a member of the Little Bethel Baptist Church, Stony Creek, Va. He was a long-time employee of Continental Can Corp. and Georgia Pacific Lumber Co. in McKenney, Va.

He had an energetic, vibrant, generous spirit towards all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Keys; one son, Carlton Keys; five brothers; and five sisters.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: one son, Timothy Keys (Ethel) of Stony Creek; two daughters, Brenda Edwards of Stony Creek, Vanessa Jones (Lester) of Prince George, Va.; one sister, Cora Curtis of Petersburg, Va.; a devoted parental father-figure, Deacon George P. Winfield of Frederick, Md.; four sisters-in-law, Caroline Keys of Stony Creek, Louise Booth of Stony Creek, Cora King (Percy) of Stony Creek and Mable Thorne (Roosevelt) of Hopewell; seven grandchildren, Satin Jordan, Shantel Edwards, Timothy Jordan, Quindell Griffin, Bianca Edwards, Shaquita Keys and Katori Jones; two great-grandchildren, Shyheim Edwards and Shakobi Edwards. A very devoted caregiver, Bianca Elise Edwards; a host of other relatives and friends.

Special thanks to Amedisys Home Health Services, Petersburg, Va., and the staff of the Medical College of Virginia for the care they gave our beloved one. May God's rich blessings be with each of you.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 2010, at the Little Bethel Baptist Church, Stony Creek, with pastor, the Rev. David L. Banks Sr., officiating. Burial will follow at the Pride Family Cemetery, Stony Creek.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Keys family residence, 22916 Walkers Mill Road. Public viewing will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2010, at the McKenney chapel of Johnson Funeral Home.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the J.M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home, 11107 Doyle Blvd, McKenney. (804) 478-4411.
