James Collins Obituary
He was born on Feb. 22, 1933, in Englelhard, N.C., and was retired from the U.S. Army. Mr. Collins also worked at Bellwood for many years and later retired from the Fort Lee Commissary. He was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church, Hopewell where he served as a trustee and usher.
He is survived by: a devoted wife, Florence E. Collins; children, Reggie, Laverne (Benjamin), Florence (Alfonzo), Darnell, Robert Jr. (Verilon) and Timothy all of Virginia; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ida Bowles and Blanche Bryant; three brothers, Hennessy, Madison and Roscoe Collins; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives an friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at Friendship Baptist Church, Hopewell where the pastor, the Rev. Dr. Carl M. Johnson, will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Sinai Community Cemetery, Prince George.
Services entrusted to the staff of Turner-Bland Funeral Home, Hopewell, the Rev. William N. Bland Jr., funeral director.

It was always a pleasure visiting even if it was business related. James always had a smile when I brought you a calendar. He was more than just an insurance client. Although I have moved to another state. I still remember fondly. The sun shines on those who love the Lord, and James is basking at the beach now enjoying those rays.
