James Nicholas Obituary

Mr. James Thomas Nicholas Sr., 98, of 25802 Greensville Ave., Petersburg, departed this life on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at his residence. He was born to the late John T. and Martha E. Crawley Nicholas on May 17, 1912, in Dinwiddie County. Mr. Nicholas attended Dinwiddie County Public Schools and was a truck driver for Ritchie Feed Company for many years. He was member of Center Star Baptist Church in Dinwiddie.

Mr. Nicholas was preceded in death by: his wife, Louella G. Nicholas; one son, Eudell A. Nicholas; three brothers, John W. Nicholas, Charles D. Nicholas and Thurman L. Nicholas; and one sister, Fannie Beamon.

Surviving are: four sons, James T. Nicholas Jr., Albert M. Nicholas, Alvin C. Nicholas and Norman K. Nicholas; one daughter, Arlene N. Williams; one sister, Helen Quince; two sisters-in-law, Rebecca Nicholas and Mary Lee Nicholas; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at Center Star Baptist Church, Dinwiddie. The pastor, the Rev. Jimmie L. Walker Sr., will officiate. Interment will follow in Dinwiddie Memorial Park, Dinwiddie. There will be no repast. The family will assemble at the residence at 11 a.m. on the day of the service.
