Louise Wheeler Obituary

Louise Shelton Wheeler, 85, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at the Colonial Heights Health Care Center.

Born in Chesterfield County, she was the daughter of the late Alvin M. Shelton Sr. and Josephine Sadler Shelton, and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Benjamin Wheeler, and a sister, Constance S. Mears. Mrs. Wheeler was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, and was formerly employed as an office manager for Dr. Nelson Smith and Dr. Vick. Mrs. Wheeler was a Past Worthy Matron and member of Alpha Eastern Star Chapter #1 in Petersburg.

She is survived by her sisters, Virginia S. Mazza of Matoaca, Marion S. Mears of Prince George and Margaret S. Krause of Matoaca; her brothers, Alvin M. Shelton Jr. and wife, Bettie P., of Chesterfield, Herbert M. Shelton and wife, Carolyn P., of Matoaca, and John E. Shelton Sr. of Colonial Heights; several nieces and nephews; an aunt, Lucille Shelton Lee; and a brother-in-law, Allen R. Mears Sr. of Colonial Heights.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, with the Rev. Dr. Andrew Brockelman officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 3113 Greenwood Ave., Colonial Heights, VA 23834, or Odyssey Health Care, 2801 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
