Jeffery DeVito Obituary

DeVITO, JEFFERY P. 33, of Warwick, RI passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 20, 2012. Jeff is survived by his parents, Pat and Pattie DeVito of Portsmouth, NH, his sister and brother in law, Melissa and Chris Alekna of Richmond, RI and his partner, Steve Ryan and their dog, Gunney of Warwick, RI. He also leaves behind his Aunt Mary, Uncle Arthur, Cousins Alex and Becky of PA and his Aunt Margaret and cousin Steven of MA. Jeff was a talented artist and a licensed cosmetologist and barber who had worked in several Rhode Island salons. He loved to cook and tell stories. His smile was huge, his laugh was infectious and his big brown eyes were warm and loving. Jeff will be truly missed and is loved with all of our hearts and souls. A wake will be held at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook, CT on Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 5-8pm. A short service will be held immediately following the wake. Mr. and Mrs. DeVito, and Melissa,

Please accept my deepest sympathies for your loss. Words cannot describe the sadness I feel in learning of this. You all were like a second family to me when we were kids and Jeff was like a brother. Growing up sometimes means drifting apart as life takes us on different journeys. Sadly for Jeff and I, this was the case. However, in the years we spent joined at the hip, he had a huge impact on my life; he picked me up when I was down, and helped me laugh when I could not. That is just the nice kind of kid he was. Now, as an adult, I think of those times often and I will hold on the wonderful memories we shared forever.

I consider myself very lucky to have met Jeff a couple years ago and become friends with him through Steve. He was always so open hearted and comforting and the two of them were so fun to be around. My condolences to the DeVitos, Aleknas and the rest of his family...Jeffery has been one of the most important people in my life. He was a wonderful friend who NEVER judged me nomatter how crazy i might get sometimes. Always willing to help in any situation, even if it wasn't necessarilly something he felt like doing.
