Annabel Hanna Obituary

HANNA, ANNABEL SAIZ
of Barrington, passed away with her family by her side on May 17, 2017, at the age of 69.
Annabel was beloved by all for her unforgettable warmth, boundless selflessness, and loving spirit. She cast a radiant light of pure love, she opened her heart to all, and she could make a stranger feel like family in a single greeting. Annabel's legacy is her love and devotion to family, her depthless generosity, and her indomitable optimism and positivity.
Annabel was born November 24, 1947 in New York City, New York, to parents Alfonso and Clissi Saiz and brother Alfonso Saiz Jr. Her early childhood was blissfully spent between Manhattan and Cuba, from where her parents had emigrated. She attended Elizabeth Seton College in Yonkers, New York, where a blind date with a Manhattan College student would forever change her life.
From the moment Annabel and Mark met, it was love at first sight. He was a dark haired Irish boy from rural upstate New York, she was a vibrant blonde city girl, and they couldn't have been more perfect for each other. Their love story was the likes of which were usually only seen in movies. Annabel & Mark's devotion to each other for over 50 years is an inspiration to all. The beautiful family they would create is an everlasting reflection of their unique and unwavering love.
They married on June 1, 1968 in Riverdale, New York, and honeymooned road tripping across Europe. In 1970, they welcomed their first child Erik. Their second child, Todd, came in 1974, followed by daughter Erin in 1980, and son Ryan in 1983. In 1985, the family moved from Long Island, New York, to their waterfront dream house in Barrington, Rhode Island, which to this day remains the heart of holidays and family gatherings.
Throughout her life, Annabel was active in the community, supported countless charities, and ran a successful luxury linens business. But little would make her happier than seeing her beloved children find their soul mates and begin their own love stories. The addition of Erik's wife Roxanne, Todd's wife Karla, Erin's husband Khushal, and Ryan's wife Jessica brought her immeasurable joy, rivaled only by the welcoming of her cherished grandchildren Owen, Gabby, Gavin, Nico, Karoline, and Inez.
Annabel loved life deeply and fully, she wore her beautiful smile everywhere she went, and her unending positivity was legendary. She often and famously proclaimed everything she encountered as "the best ever." And while everything wasn't truly worthy of that designation, undoubtedly Annabel herself was. She was the best ever – the best wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and grammy ever.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 23rd, 4-8pm, at Perry- McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence, Rhode Island. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 24th, 10am, at St. Luke's Parish, 108 Washington Road, Barrington, Rhode Island. Burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence, Rhode Island.
Flowers are welcome at the funeral home or church. Alternatively donations can be made in Annabel's honor to Special Olympics Rhode Island (www.specialolympicsri.org) or the Women's Ordination Conference (www.womensordination.org).

Dear Mark and Erin, and your entire family,

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of your dear wife / dear Mom. I know you will keep her alive with all that you accomplish out in the world, which she influenced so greatly.

I'll be donating in Annabel's memory at the Women's Ordination Conference, and I know she will be advocating in heaven for the completion of Erin's dream. What a divine champion to have...

Love,

Dear Mark and Annabel's family,

I never had the pleasure of meeting Annabel and I've always felt that there must be an extraordinary woman supporting Mark's passionate commitment that the jewelry industry be responsible, caring, ethical and traceable.

I'm so sorry for your loss and deeply appreciate the gift that Annabel has been to you and to us all.

Love to all,

I met Annabel when she accompanied Mark to New Mexico. It was my greatest pleasure to spend the day with her and share the Pueblo culture with her. She spoke so fondly of her mom and all of her wonderful children and grandchildren. It is not often that a person comes across our path: you feel a kinship and sisterhood. I indeed felt this way about Annabel. We kept in touch and an occasional note. I am indeed grateful to have met her and am so sorry that she has passed. You are in my prayers always. Xathena

My deepest sympathy to the entire family. Some of the fondest memories I had in Italy, were shared with Annabel. I had the pleasure of meeting her, through her sister-in-law Cathy Hanna Talbot. We met again on a few other occasions. She always had a smile on her face and was genuinely kind! God Bless!!

Dearest Mark, Al, Erik Todd, Ryan and our beautiful daughter-in-law Erin,

Annabel is truly the best ever. I knew this the first time I met her - during a "get to know you lunch once we realized our children were planning a life together. Annabel enveloped me in one of her huge hugs and said, Mark and I just love your son; that young man's the salt of the earth! I loved her instantly.

Qayum and I have shared so many happy events with Annabel and Mark...weddings, baptisms, showers, noche buenas, great mojitos. Most precious of all the arrivals of our shared grandbabies - Nico and Inez.

We will always cherish Annabel's memory, her friendship and how she welcomed our family into yours.

Our love and prayers,

Anna & Qayum Safi

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for the spouse of our fellow Jasper and the family at this time. Spouses are recognized on the theory "they make a Jasper's life". The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
