My heartfelt sympathies to the McCarthy family and Agnes in particular. I did not grow up in this area but keep hearing stories from EVERYONE in East Bay about Bill and his swimming, and his biking, and his humor, and his generosity to children and adults alike, and his obvious love and joyful service of community. His pride in his family and spark of life was obvious, even to someone who only knew him this last decade. I hope in time the many many many joyful memories will replace the grief of today. My heartfelt sympathies to all the McCarthys...Noni Horwitz PT from VNS.

To the McCarthy family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I was very fortunate to have had Bill as a friend, neighbor, Bristol tour guide and historian. He made my too-short residence in Bristol one of the most cherished periods in my life. Special memories of dancing with him at one of the many concerts before Independence Day in front of the Colt School and how he hooked me up with 2 other team members from Senior Olympics for sprint Triathlon relays at Barrington beach. He was quite a guy and will be missed.

To the family,
Your father will be greatly missed. The Town of Bristol has lost a well traveled, bicycle riding social advocate for our town. His bay swims and competitions at Brown were so much fun to hear about. I enjoyed all the time I had with him.
Please accept my deepest condolences.
