Fred Forrest

1925 - 2016

FORREST, FRED 91, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2016 in Little Compton, RI surrounded by his loving family. Fred was born in Esmond, RI on May 7, 1925 and was the son of Fred and Clara (Bradley) Forrest and the brother of the late Arnold Forrest. As a boy, he spent many happy times rowing his boat on the Woonasquatucket River. Fred proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII. Upon discharge, he graduated from Bryant College, Smithfield, RI and was employed for 25 years as Vice President and Controller at J.F. White Construction Company. He was the husband of Sylvia (Briggs) Forrest, to whom he was married for 67 years, and also is survived by his children, Susan Casey (Tim) of Dartmouth, MA, Valerie Scribner (Mike) of S. Pasadena, FL, and Joan Crowley (John) of Assonet, MA, and his grandchildren, Gayle Liber, Jennifer Lindo, Ryan Crowley, Kristine Crowley, Caitlyn Crowley, Jessica Crowley, and seven great-grandchildren, Jack, Brooke, and Abby Liber, Nicole and Caroline Casey, Jake and Eric Lindo. Fred was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at their winter home in Venice, FL. He was also a lifelong Patriots fan and was quite proud that J.F. White built the Patriots' Schaefer Stadium. Fred always put his family first. He built a beautiful cottage on Rome Point for his family to enjoy summers on Narragansett Bay. In later years, he bought a home in Little Compton, where his entire family continues to enjoy the seaside. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 22, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Greystone P.M.
