Carla Louise Spomer

Carla L. Spomer Carla Louise Spomer, 81, of Chambersburg, PA joined her Savior Tuesday evening, December 24, 2013, at The Inn, Luther Ridge Retirement Community. She was born August 21, 1932, in St. Louis, MO, daughter of the late Clara E. Sayles and Robert E. Farrell. She graduated in 1954 from Concordia University Chicago with a BS in Education, and taught Lutheran elementary education in New Orleans, Saint Louis, Baltimore, and Fort Wayne, IN, where she organized and administered a pre-school education program. She was an accomplished seamstress, cook, and organizer. She taught Sunday School and catechism, sang in the church choir and directed the altar guild. She traveled with her family to countries in Europe, the Middle East, and Mexico. She was married to Herbert C. Spomer on June 16, 1957. She is survived by her husband, children and grandchildren. She was mother to Paula Ann (J. Scott) Wilcher and Susan Marie (Thomas E.) Kump. She was grandmother to Emahlea Jackson (Brian P.), Jennifer Kump and Jonathan Kump. Her remains have been placed with the Anatomy Gifts Registry to advance education and medical research. A memorial service will be announced at a future time.
