Richard Anton Obituary
Richard was born Dec. 23, 1931, at Wessington Springs to Nick and Blanche (Jobe) Anton.
Dick entered the U.S. Army Sept. 9, 1952. While serving his country he received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars; United Nations Service Medal; National Defense Service Medal; and the ROK (Republic of Korea) Presidential Unit Citation Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged Sept. 11, 1954.
Dick lived in Wessington Springs; Glendale, Calif.; Woonsocket; Mitchell; and Rapid City. While living in Wessington Springs, he served on the Fire Department and various offices in the VFW. He owned a repair shop in Glendale.
Dick is survived by a brother, David (Janet) Anton, Fresno, Calif.; and sisters, Bernadine (Nicky) Bjorkman, Sioux Falls, and Margaret (Peg) Segovia, Honomu, Hawaii; brother-in-law, Patrick (Pat) Cahill, Woonsocket; six nieces; 10 nephews; and a special friend, Joyce Webb of Rapid City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Lou Cahill; and two brothers-in-law, John Bjorkman and Andrew "Andy" Segovia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 2, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help with Father Michel Mulloy celebrating. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m., with rosary services at 9:30 a.m.
Interment, with military honors provided by the Rushmore VFW Post 1273 Honor Guard will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
