Edna "Eddie" Mills

LEAD - Edna "Eddie" Mills, age 89, of Lead died Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Lead-Deadwood Regional Hospital. Edna Marie was born November 8, 1918 in Sturgis, SD to Edward and Anna (Johnson) Nelson. She grew up in Sturgis and graduated from Rapid City High School in 1937. Eddie attended Green's Beauty School. On March 24, 1941 she married Harold Mills in Chadron, NE. They ran the Mills Drug Stores in Rapid City until 1975. They retired to Scottsdale, AZ for 28 years. She loved golfing, playing bridge, reading, traveling and her family. Eddie very much appreciated her caregivers at Golden Ridge Retirement and the Lead-Deadwood Regional Hospital. She is survived by three sons; Dr. Robert Mills, Gilbert, AZ, Dr. James Mills, Walton Beach, FL and Dr. Dennis Mills, Deadwood, SD, 24 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Her husband, Harold, three sons; Clark, Ronald and Bill, 5 brothers and sisters and a grandson preceded her in death. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2008 at the Lead-Deadwood Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kerry Prendiville officiating. Because one of Eddie's great grandchilden was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis the memorial has been established to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
