Following his retirement from car sales, he worked at Meadowbrook Golf Course, which became his home away from home. He loved playing golf and gardening. He was also an accomplished carpenter and built many projects for his family.

He is survived by three children, Luanne (Monte) Dirks and Brent (Nora) Kertzman, both of Rapid City, and Lynne (David) Schlottman, Aurora, Colo.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Koenig, Westminster, Colo.
