Edwin Artz Obituary

RAPID CITY - Edwin G. Artz, 82, Rapid City, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Sturgis Regional Health facility. He served in the U.S. Army from January 1951 to October 1952. Survivors include his wife, Ann Artz, Rapid City; three daughters, Karen Dufek, Sturgis, Sharon Braun, Beaver Creek, Minn., Stacy Deaver, Brentwood, Calif.; two sons, Wayne Artz, Black Hawk, and Brian Artz, Bismarck, N.D.; four sisters, Lorraine Evelo and Gertrude Lingor, both of Aberdeen, Arlene Weinreis, Sun City, Ariz., and Caroline Walsh, Yankton; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, with a Christian wake service at 7 p.m. at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Blessed Sacrament Church, with the Rev. Dan Juelfs officiating. Burial will be at Pine Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors provided by Rushmore VFW Post 1273, and the South Dakota National Guard. A memorial has been established.
