RAPID CITY - Marvel A. Myers, 90, Rapid City, died Thursday April 28, 2011, at Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House.
Marvel was born April 3, 1921, in Buffalo Lake, Minn., the daughter of George and Anna Sausele. She grew up in Renville, Minn., graduating from high school in 1939. She attended Business College in Minneapolis and worked as a bank employee in Willmar and Fairbault, Minn., until her marriage to Dean R. Myers on April 21, 1945, in Jackson, Minn. They have two children, Ronald and Marilyn.
They resided in Dixon and Gregory, S.D., until 1959 when they moved to Rapid City. In 1977, a business transfer took them to Fergus Falls, Minn., where they lived until 1986. Then, in retirement, they moved to Santa Fe, N.M. In 1993, they returned to Rapid City to reside until the present time. After retiring, some winter months were spent each year in Mesa, Ariz.
Marvel was baptized, confirmed and a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church. In addition to her homemaking responsibilities, she assisted her husband with his Aid Association for Lutherans duties.
She is survived by her husband, Dean, Rapid City; a son, Ronald Myers, Santa Fe, N.M.; a daughter,
Marilyn Bendt, Rapid City; four grandchildren, Holly
Myers, Seattle, Elizabeth (David) Wofford, Schuarita, Ariz., Andrew Bendt,
Fort Collins, Colo., and Alexander Bendt, Rapid City; a great-granddaughter, Jillian Wofford; a sister, Muriel Luxem, Rapid City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Anna Sausele; a brother, Frederick; a sister, Alice; and a son-in-law, Dennis Bendt.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 9, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Joshua Jones officiating. Burial will follow at
12:30 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
A memorial has been established to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Vision Fund.
