He is survived by three sons and their wives: Michael J. Zackon (Margaret) of Reading, Jeffrey F. Zackon (Dawn) of Oley, and Steven L. Zackon (Janice) of Midlothian, Va.; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Gertrude Z. Rubenstein of Langhorne.
Dr. Zackon was a member of the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association; past president of Schuylkill Valley Veterinary Medical Association; member and past president of Fleetwood Rotary Club; Paul Harris Fellow, Rotary International; past president of Oley Valley Lions Club; first president of Oley Valley Community Fair, and founder and chairman of Oley Valley Horse Show.
He was also a 60-year member of American Legion Post 878, Oley Valley Youth Building Trustee, and past member of Oley Fire Company.
He was a graduate of Olney High School, Philadelphia, and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of University of Pennsylvania and University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical School. He practiced veterinary medicine for over 40 years.
He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, hunting, and was an avid Philadelphia sports team fan.
Services will be announced at a later date. The family requests that no flowers be sent. Memorial contributions may be made to your local ASPCA or Boy Scouts of America.
