He was the widower of Wilda R. (Kachel) Esterly.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late William and Blanch (Fornorman) Esterly.
Bill was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, serving in Tokyo Bay on V-J Day for the signing of the Japanese Instrument of Surrender.
He worked for 35 years at Freihofer's Bakery as the night foreman on the receiving dock. He also worked in the security department for Albright College and part-time for the Henninger Funeral Home.
Bill was an avid bowler and enjoyed all sports.
He is survived by his daughter, Joan Esterly; son, William J., husband of Jeanie L. Esterly; and grandchildren, William L. and Steven R. Esterly.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at 10 a.m. in Henninger Funeral Home Inc., 229 N. 5th St., Reading, Pa., 19601. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family from 9 a.m. until time of service. To Joan and William, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of you Dad. He used to be so nice when I would visit Joan when we both worked for Glidden in the office. My thoughts and prayers are with you both and your family.

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Bill. I was on his bowling team with Wilda for a few years back in the 80's. Both Bill and Wilda attending my wedding in 1990.They were both so much fun to be around ! :) Now they are together again. God Bless Billy and Willy !!
