Alfred Reale Obituary

MERIDEN - Alfred A. Reale, 80, husband of Mary Loretta (Wiernasz) Reale, died on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at MidState Medical Center after a long illness.

Born in Meriden on Sept. 8, 1931, he was the son of the late Rocco and Marianne (Zeldabelvisa) Reale and had been a lifelong Meriden resident. He graduated from Meriden High School and was employed by Johnny Barton Liquors in North Haven, retiring in 1994. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Army. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, a member of the American Legion and was an avid Red Sox fan.

Besides his wife of 56 years, he is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Michalski and her husband, Evart, of Middletown; two sons, Mark Reale, of Meriden and Dr. Michael Reale and his wife, Lynn, of Wethersfield; three grandchildren, Justin Michalski and Andrea and Alyssa Reale. He is also survived by one sister, Josephine Kaminski; one special brother-in-law, John Wiernasz; many nieces, nephews, cousins and several life-long friends. He was predeceased by four brothers, Louis, Sam, Joseph and Rocco; and three sisters, Julia, Rose and Emma.

The Reale family would like to thank Dr. Gary Tansino, Dr. Bruce Brumberger, their staff, and the infusion staff at MidState Medical Center for the loving care given to Alfred for many years.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial to be held on Friday, Feb. 17, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial with Military Honors will be in Calvary Cemetery in Middletown. Friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden 06450, on Thursday, Feb. 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 109 Goodwill Ave., Meriden, CT 06451 or to St. Jude Children Hospital, P. O. Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950.
