Roger Bowman Obituary
He held editing jobs in DC and NYC before relocating to this area where he worked as the Leisure Editor for the Recorder. Roger had a love for theater and acted with groups both in DC and New York as well as with the Arena Civic Theater here in Greenfield. He was a Board Member for the Shea Theater in Turners Falls for a time and was also a long-time member of the Greenfield YMCA.
After retirement, he volunteered for the New Americans program for several years. He derived great pleasure traveling on many international trips with Italy being one of his favorite destinations. He was a faithful communicant of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Turners Falls and then St. James Episcopal Church in Greenfield where he served as a reader.
Roger leaves two brothers, Donald Y. Bowman and his wife Beatrice of Greenfield, Frederic H. Bowman and his wife Joyce of Turners Falls and his sister-in-law June Bowman of Auburn, ME as well as four nephews and three nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, his oldest brother Llewellyn H. Bowman Jr. and a nephew, Jeffrey Bowman.
Services will be held Tuesday (6-12-18) at 10 AM in the chapel at Episcopal Church of Saints James & Andrew, 8 Church Street, Greenfield, MA 01301. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Millers Falls.
There will be a calling hour Tuesday morning from 8:30 – 9:30 AM at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St., Greenfield.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Roger's name may be made to the Episcopal Church of Saints James & Andrew, 8 Church Street, Greenfield, MA 01301 or to the charity of your choice.
