Marilyn Lee Obituary

VERONA, PA - Marilyn Modarelli Lee passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017 while in hospice care at Longwood at Oakmont following an extended illness. She was 82 years old.
Born in Jersey City, NJ and raised in Union City, NJ, the youngest daughter of Alfred and Florence (Koment) Modarelli, Ms. Lee lived for 44 years in Greenfield, MA before moving to the Oakmont/Verona, PA area for the last six years of her life.
A graduate of Union Hill High School (Union City, NJ), Swarthmore College (Swarthmore, PA), and the Western New England College School of Law (Springfield, MA), Ms. Lee was the law librarian for Franklin County from 1972 until her retirement in 2001. She was a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the shop foreman and lead negotiator for the union representing law librarians across Massachusetts during her working life.
Ms. Lee was active in Democratic Party politics, the Greenfield Planning Board, Franklin County Council on Aging, New England Learning Center for Women in Transition, Franklin County Technical High School Building Committee, Greenfield Town Meeting and Town Council, as well as numerous other municipal, county, and statewide organizations and boards. She was also a longtime board member and treasurer for All Soul's Church, a Unitarian-Universalist congregation.
She is survived by her sister, Elaine F. Mandracchia formerly of Spring Lake, NJ now of Tinton Falls, NJ; daughter Leslie K. L. Ekstrand of Lebanon, NH; two sons, Alfred M. Lee IV of Seattle, WA and Andrew M. Lee of Pasadena, CA; four grandchildren; and many close friends. Her brother, Alfred Modarelli, and ex-husband, Alfred M. Lee III, both preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on December 9, 2017 in the Atrium at the Seabrook Retirement Community, 3000 Essex Road, Tinton Falls, NJ.
Donations to the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.
