John, Sue, Dave, and Suzie,
I'm so sorry for your loss and wanted to express my sincere condolences. Some of my fondest memories growing up in Porterville were the sleep overs at your house where you made me feel part of your family and all the baseball that we played through the years. It seemed that Porterville High always got the best of Monache when we played the big cross town rivalry games back in 1975-1977.
Thanks again for all the fond memories of my years in Porterville and especially on the "Sandlot."

I've known Dave and Sue for over 40 years! Wow. Dave taught me Driver's Ed at P'ville High. I thought he tried to act 'gruff' but I always knew he wasn't really. :-) The Fredericks were our neighbors on Grand St. When I was in 8th grade Sue would send his laundered shirts over for me to iron for 15 cents each. Oh how long they sometimes had to wait to get those shirts back! Dave must've had a lot of shirts. ;-) You both have been good friends to my mom through all these years. We will never forget your loving acceptance of everyone. My condolences to all the kids and grandkids. It is a sad loss.
Love, Jennifer (Crumal Ruiz) Duncan.

Sue, please accept our condolences for your loss. I valued Dave as a friend, a teacher and an outstanding baseball coach during my years at Porterville High School. They threw the mold away when Dave was created....one of a kind!

My father John Rangel, and Mr. Fredrick managed the Elks, little league team together. It was then, where I was introduced to one of the greatest influences of my life. Thoughout my youth living Porterville, Mr. fredrick was always around the corner, and involved, with inter-city kids, and Baseball. After two greuling years at Monache and the sports program, I asked to transfer to Porterville highschool at the Easter break, and it was then when I was introduced to the Porterville Varsity Baseball Team. Though I did not play that season in the Delano tournament, but taking that bus ride, the team welcomed me. But the best thing that could of been said to me was from the mouth of Mr. Fred.. "I'm color blind." "Everyone plays on this team."
The follwing year, we won the EYL championship. It was nice to see a good thing happen to this ball club. Mr. Fredrick as a coach and teacher, gave everyone a fair shake. It was for that reason, I became to admire Mr. Fredrick, to the point of asking him to be my best man.
I am Rick Rangel. I live in Virginia, after twenty years of Marine Corps service, and have enjoyed the memories of my youth. It is truely a better time with Mr. Fredrick in it.
