1960 - 2014

MATT CARL JONES February 25, 1960 ~ January 19, 2014 Matt Carl Jones passed away Sunday, January 19th at Enloe Hospital in Chico. Matt was born February 25, 1960 to Robert and Ruth Jones. He attended Corning schools and grew up in the Squaw Hill area fishing, running through the orchards with his sister, brother and cousins and enjoying the life of a typical "farm kid". After school, Matt married his childhood sweetheart, Jessica Young, and soon after they purchased their home in Squaw Hill and started a family. For many years Matt was a mechanic at Lyndon Johnson Motors until a back injury forced him into early retirement. Matt enjoyed many hours with his friends and family hunting and fishing. He was able to take several out of state hunting trips that always generated a lot of good stories to share. Matt was always there for anyone that needed his help. He is especially known for the delicious bar-b-ques he prepared for family and friends. Matt is survived by his wife, Jessica and children, Jennifer and granddaughter, Kennedy and son Quincy. His sister Debbie (Steven) Peterson, brother, John (Lori) Jones, his parents Bob and Ruth and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Matts family would like to thank the Drs. and staff at Enloe Hospital for making things comfortable for Matt and for the compassion shown to the family at this difficult time. Also a grateful thank you to all his friends and family who were there to offer their love and support. Jessica and family would like to invite Matt's friends to a luncheon and memorial service that will be held Saturday, January 25th at 1 p.m. at the Paskenta Community Hall.
