Marie Symes Obituary
Marie Symes died peacefully in her Redding home on October 4, 2010.
Marie was born Mary Katherine Julian in Merced, California in 1923. while living in Salinas, California at the age of 18, she met Leo Symes, with whom she would share 65 plus years of marriage.
Marie's zest for life brought her to enjoy many hobbies including gardening sewing and cooking. Marie was talented at making things beautiful as well as making beautiful things. And you could also find her working on puzzles and reading.
Marie is survived by her two daughters and a son; Carolyn and Howard Gatliff, grandsons Ken and Kirk (Tiffany) Brazil, two great grandsons Connor and Kirk Brazil II. Linda and Mark Simonds, granddaughter Debbie Simonds and great grandson Dustin Adams. Son and daughter in law Dr. Jim and Karyn Symes, grandson, Aaron Symes, and granddaughter, Sophie Symes.
Marie touched the hearts of those fortunate enough to come to know her and we will miss her sweet smile, bright-eyed enthusiasm and aptly-spoken words of encouragement, as well as her sense of humor and infectious laugh.
Respecting the wishes of Marie, no services are scheduled. Interment will be at Lawncrest Cemetery.
Arrangements are pending at Lawncrest Chapel in Redding, (222-1587).

I will miss Marie dearly. She was always so cheerful and upbeat when I got to see her. My prayers go out to her two wonderful daughters Linda and Carolyn. I am so greatful that Marie and her family came into my life. I will miss hugging her and getting a hug back. God Bless you Marie! I know you are happy to be with Leo!
