Opal Wagner Obituary

Opal Bernice Wagner, 94, of Anderson left this world and her family and friends with pleasant memories of her long wonderful life on October 8, 2010.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Tuesday October 19th at Anderson Cemetery at 4 p.m.
Opal "Bee" was born in Mimburn Iowa on December 14, 1915 as one of 21 children. Growing up in a large family meant a lot of responsibility and multiple struggles. She also experienced first hand the trials of the great depression and World War II. Despite these challenges Bee graduated from Jefferson High School and subsequently graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Nursing in 1937. After graduating she worked as a Registered Nurse in Boise Idaho as supervisor of Pediatrics before moving to California. She practiced her profession as an R.N. for many years in Santa Cruz, San Jose, and Hanford before settling in Sonoma County where she worked for Sonoma Valley Hospital for several years. Bee was always known to provide her patients with loving care and devotion. While working as a nurse, Bee met a patient named Donald Wagner whom she married in 1940. Together they had three children Carol, Robert, and Gary. Bee retired from nursing in 1970 and later moved to Redding in 1995.
Bee has always been a very kind hearted and loving person who enjoyed bringing a smile to the face of others. She often spent time telling of stories from her lifetime, or a good joke bringing laughter to those around. She was thoughtful of people and always was sure to remember others at holidays and birthdays with a kind word or gift.
Bee is survived by one known sister Frieda May, as well as her three children and their spouses Carol (69) and John Bueno, Gary (65) and Linda Wagner, and Robert (58) and Lian Wagner. Bee is also survived by five of her six grandchildren as well as 12 great grandchildren and multiple great-great grandchildren.
She has lived a wonderfully long life to which her family and friends aspire, and those who loved her will hold the memory of her sweet smile close to their heart.
