Vera Mazzini Obituary

Vera Marjorie Mazzini

June 22, 1918 - October 13, 2010

Vera Marjorie Mazzini, age 92, was born in Cambridge, England to Frank and May (Payne) Kester. She lived in and attended school in Cambridge, England and experienced the years of World War II. At times bombs intended for London, mistakenly arrived near her.

Vera's arrival into the United States was in 1946 on the Queen Mary with a group of British War Brides. She moved to Montgomery Creek, CA and then later to Redding, CA. Judge Richard B. Eaton officiated at her naturalization ceremony here in Redding.
She lived forty-five years in her home in Redding. Her yard was called an English Garden. She had a great understanding love for animals and all living things.

Many friends, acquaintances and neighbors have enjoyed and loved Vera's presence, love and gifts. Holidays and special events were celebrated with Vera's cookies, tarts, candies and cakes from her kitchen. Children enjoyed Vera's caring attention and her gifts of their first teddy bears.

Vera was active in many social political and charitable organizations and was a willing volunteer. Two of the longest activities were as a Mercy Hospital Guild Member and as a member of Delta Lambda Chapter of Sigma Phi Gamma. At the time of elections Vera helped at the polling site.

To many of us Vera was a good friend who would always be there. We will remember a beautiful lady with special blue eyes.

Vera passed away at Welcome Home Assisted Living.

Private services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

In memory of Vera, donations can be made to Mercy Hospice at 1544 Market St., or to the National Parkinson Foundation at Gifts, PO Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018 or donate to the place of your choice.
