Jean Lilley Obituary
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Rena Danner Hites of McPherson, Kan.; her husband, Rep. Daniel T. Lilley; sisters, Rosalie Link and Betty Street.
Mrs. Lilley was born in McPherson, Kan., and attended Bresee Junior College in Hutchinson, Kan., and Central Christian College in McPherson, Kan. She taught in a one-room country schoolhouse in Kansas for three years until her marriage in 1944.
She and Dan moved to Kinston in 1947 where she worked for a time in administration at Grainger High School. She and her husband were charter members of Northwest Christian Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Eileen L. Daigle and husband, John, of Winterville; and son, Dan Lilley Jr., and partner, John Reese, of Raleigh. She is also survived by grandsons, John Daigle Jr., and wife, Donna, and Jeff Daigle and wife, Kerri, all of Greenville; great-grandchildren Alivia, Harrison, Jacob, Luke, and Nathan Daigle, all of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a private graveside service at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston, and there will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to MTEE (Min. to Educate and Equip), 2520 Professional Rd., Suite C, Richmond, VA 23235 or to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements made by Edwards Funeral Home in Kinston.

Hi Dan, so sorry to learn of your Mom's passing, but it is abundantly clear that she led a wonderful and full life, and that she enriched all of the lives she touched as well. Thanks to all of you for cards, e-mails, visits, notes, food, flowers, and conversations over these past 3 intense months and the days since mom's death. John did the graveside service yesterday, and it was filled with memories, laughter, words of faith and assurances, and even some pictures that got passed around. Mom was greatly honored, and we left with much lighter hearts!

Eileen & Dan,
I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I was telling Jeff, that she's been on my mind lately and I know she will be greatly missed. She was the most spritely, energetic woman I know and I always found her stories hilarious and entertaining and her hospitality was always comforting with a splash of fun :) I havent seen her in a while, but I think about her often. My sympathy goes out to your families, but there is no doubt in my mind that she will be remembered by everyone.

Eileen, Our Deepest Sympathy go out to you and the entire Family. Your mom was a very strong woman. The most I remember about her was her smile and all those sit ups she used to do everyday before her health began to decline some years ago. I will always be greatful to you and John for all you guys did for us during the passing of my mother in 2006. We will always be greatful for that. God Bless you all and you will be remembered in our prayers.
