Dear Bill, Michael and Mary,
We were so very sorry to hear the news. As you know some of my happiest times were spent at 1, Elmdale Lane, where your Dad permitted me to bring Ward (age 6 months) to the office while we worked on the Business Fund for Canadian Studies in the US. Helen and Bob always welcomed us and so many people over the years. Your home was always a special place, and we were so fortunate to know this. Scott and Ward pass on their condences also, and we send you all our love. Liz Heatherington, Canadian Embassy, Riga, Latvia

Chloe and Sylvia were planning Bob’s Birthday this year and they asked me if I would come to play a surprise concert as a special gift. I will always remember that afternoon. It was a great privilege for me to share my music, stories and love for the cello with Bob and his close friends. Bob was also a fellow Board member of The Leading Note Foundation and was so enthusiastic about our Orkidstra and KidSinger children. He was committed to helping our Foundation and all the children that could benefit from the magic of music making. I will miss him and our Board will miss him.
My sincere condolences to Chloe and the Gayner family.

On behalf of the staff, board and clients of Catholic Family Service, I extend our condolences. Bob was respected and loved by those of us who had the privilege of knowing him. In his role as Board President he steered us through some challenging times, and helped us develop our Mission Statement and Statement of Principles. He later volunteered with our Friends Group, and was much loved by the members of this group. Personally, I appreciated the support he gave me over the years as I settled into my role as Executive Director. I especially appreciated a letter he wrote to me early in my tenure as Executive Director. He told me that I had made a difference. That letter has sustained me over many years, and whenever I ask myself why I do this job, I think about Bob's letter. A small selfless act that had a lasting effect, and a reflection of the man that he was. Bob made a lasting difference to CFSO and to the lives of the many people he touched.

I was travelling to Italy with the cathedral choir and had dinner with Bob. He was very respectful of others, a true gentleman.

To all family members
I am a staff member of Catholic Family Service who had knowed a little bit of Mr Gayner. I did appreciate his sensitivity, the joy he brought around and the support he gave us through his many committment with our agency. I perceived him as man who act courageously with his values and beliefs and took position to improve what was needed. May each of you be blessed in this time. His soul and heart through his being and actions pave a road of gentleness and compassion around him. May his heart and soul rest in peace and in light.

Dear Gayner Family, Edwina and Rick Kohler join the many who have loved and respected Bob for his continuing good humour, love of life, accomplishment and enormous pride derived from his family. Our thoughts are with you at this sad time.
