Three Rivers

Ian Matthew Smith, 19, passed away on December 9, 2012.

Ian was born on April 7, 1993 in Cleburne, Texas to Shelley Vance and Sharon Jackson Smith. He was a student at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas and was a member of Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Charlene Jackson and grandfather, Shelley V. Smith.

Ian was a 2011 graduate of Three Rivers High School and a member of FFA. He participated in Varsity Football, Basketball, Track and Field, Baseball, and Golf. Ian was selected as First Team All South Texas Newcomer of the Year in 2008, he was an all District Football Player his sophomore, junior and senior years, and he was the Three Rivers High School Football "Back of the Year" in 2010-2011. In 2009-2010, he was Basketball MVP, and he also qualified for Regionals in golf. He was voted Most Handsome and Most Popular in 2010; he also received numerous other awards. Ian was a great athlete and a gifted artist.

He is survived by his parents, Vance and Sharon Smith of Three Rivers, Tx, two brothers, Daniel(Renee) Smith and niece, Lucy of San Antonio, Tx, and Robert Smith and fiance;e, Lora McCullough of Three Rivers, Tx, one sister, Shelly Smith(Jay Graves) of Austin, Tx, grandparents, Shirley Smith and Georgia Sanders both of Abilene, Tx. He is also survived by his aunt, Judy(Lee) Adwell of Arlington, Tx and his uncle, Seth(Katlyn) Smith of Dallas, Tx, and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and relatives.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 3pm-8pm and Friday, December 14, 2012 from 9am-8pm at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home in Three Rivers, Tx. Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 1pm at Three Rivers High School Auditorium. Burial to follow at Three Rivers Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Larry Hatten, Jay Graves, Joe Rodriguez, Morgan Ross, Robby Smith, Daniel Smith, Johnny Herrea, and Bradley Bellows.

Honorary Pallbearers are Pop Warner Live Oak Rattlers, Three Rivers Bulldog Athletics, Sul Ross State University Football Team, Patrick Adwell, DJ Adwell, Seth Stewart, Kevin Sheppard and Clayton Magill.

Donations may be made to: West Texas Rehabilitation Center in Abilene, Tx, Sunny Glen Children's Home in San Benito, Tx, Lobo Football Program at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Tx or the charity of one's choice.
