Roy White Obituary

Roy Earl White

Tuscola - A good man left this earth April 16, 2021 to join his Heavenly Father.

Roy Earl White was born November 14, 1931 in Ovalo, Texas. He was the eldest son of Willie Wayne and Mable White. He was joined later by a brother, Alfred, and sister, Billey Ruth.

Roy attended school in Ovalo and graduated from Jim Ned, known then as South Taylor. He received two scholarships, one athletic and one academic. He attended Hardin-Simmons University. He served two years in the Army and 10 years in the reserves of the Army National Guard. He met and married Bonnie Lou Ellinger and they welcomed the birth of four children, Dana, Kelleye, Mark and Seth. Ray and Bonnie were happily married for 53 years.

Roy was in the retail lumber business as Abilene Lumber for many years. He was proud of the fact that he helped many get started in the building trade. He was a proud Abilenian and served on many boards.

Roy accepted Christ at a revival meeting in Ovalo, Texas when he was 12 years old, and was baptized that afternoon in a neighbor's stock tank. He was a long time member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. He proudly served his Lord while working with the Bill Glass Prison Ministry, The Nehemiah Group and the Texas Church Builders. He was always trying to help someone.

Roy leaves behind to remember his love Dana and husband Jerry Teel, and their children Taylor, Lane, Elliot and Celia and Cody Shields; Kelleye and husband Charlie Crawford and their children Kathryn and Caroline; Mark and wife Kelli and daughter Miranda; and Seth and his children Hudson and Layla; and four great-grandchildren.

Roy will be deeply missed by many, including his second wife, Sheron and step-children and grandchildren Sarelda and David Haynes and their children Gerrit and Sidney; Glen and Darlene Cox and their children William and Glen; Correne and Johnny Allen and their children Joshua, Caleb and Megan; Roy's stepdaughter Cindy Cox Moore predeceased him. Her children Alex and Rachel Moore, and their father, Lee and wife Rhonda also survive him. There are nine great-grandchildren from the above families.

Roy lived a good, long life. He was hard working, honest, and glad to be called a man of God. Now he is at rest in his heavenly home.

Roy's wishes were to be cremated and buried next to his wife Bonnie in the Buffalo Gap Cemetery. There will be a family graveside service, and a memorial service is tentatively set for July 17, 2021.

In lieu of flowers, Roy's request is that remembrances be made to College View Baptist Church Missions Program or the charity of your choice.
