Dave Rydalch Obituary

Frank Davis (Dave) Rydalch 70, of St. Anthony, Idaho, died Dec. 3, 2014, in Blythe, Calif., of health related issues.
Dave was born May 1 1944, in Salina, Utah, the son of Frank Edward and Leola Muriel Childs Rydalch. He grew up in St. Anthony and Plano, Idaho, graduating from Sugar Salem High School in 1962. He later attended University of Idaho in Moscow where he was a member of the TKE Fraternity.
Dave married Mary Anita Koon in 1964. They lived in Moscow for one year until they returned home to Plano for Dave to farm with his father.
Dave and Anita were blessed with three children: Robin, Kristi and Lance. They later divorced in 1977. Dave continued farming in Plano and became actively involved with the Idaho Water Resource Board where he met Jan.
They married on March 29, 1985 in Boise, Idaho. Dave and Jan sold the farm in Plano in 2003 and moved to St. Anthony. Dave was supervisor for Fremont County Weed Control until he retired in 2006. Dave and Jan spent their summers in St. Anthony and winters in Blythe, Calif.
Dave was very involved with many clubs and organizations throughout his life. Dave served in various positions such as Chairman of the Idaho Water Resource Board, President of the North Fork Reservoir Company and President of the Upper Snake River Bowmen. He also was a member of the INEL Citizens Advisory Board, Teton Regional Land Trust, St. Anthony Rotary Club and the Committee of Nine.
Dave loved the outdoors. When he was not busy farming or being actively involved with his many public roles, he enjoyed fishing, bowhunting, photography and golf. He loved spending time with family and friends.
Dave is survived by his wife, Jan, his children, Kristi (Daniel) Schwab of Afton, Wyo.; Lance (Pia) Rydalch of Rexburg; step-children, Bob (Tonia) Heck of Spokane, Wash. and Cheryl (Ruben) Garcia of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and his sisters, Judy Graham, Sheralee (Mike) Lawson and Debra Rydalch.
Dave was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin, and his parents.

We are so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. It was always a very special time when his family would come to Manti and Gunnison to visit cousins, aunts and uncles. Although it has been many years since I last saw Dave, I would nevertheless think about him and his sisters often. What a fantastic reunion he must be having with his daughter, mom and dad and others who have preceded him. Our prayers and condolences are extended to all those who held him dear to their hears. Your cousin Gayle

What a loss to the Upper Valley community and the state of Idaho. Dave was one of those quiet, calm, rational people who didn't make a lot of fuss over things. He just got stuff done. Last time I spoke with him, he was headed to Squirrel, Idaho to wipe out some leafy spurge.

It was my honor to call him my friend. He will be missed.
