His parents were immigrants from Italy and France with extremely strong work ethic. By the time Mario was 5 years old, he could ride horseback and feed and milk the family cows which surely contributed to his work ethic. These were just a few of the words used to describe Judge Mario G. Racanzone who retired as a Judge in 1996. In 1943, a graduating senior from UNR, he earned his 2nd Lt Army Commission. The same year he met his loving wife Marion Emerson of Winnemucca who he has been married to for 66 years. He went to war, was promoted to Captain, returned to the U.S. and went to Hastings Law School in San Francisco subsequently landing in Fallon in 1950 to practice law with a friend and partner Jack Diehl. He served as city attorney for Fallon 27 years and for Yerington for 25. In 1982 after almost 32 years in private practice Mario was appointed to the District Court Bench where he was a district court judge for 15 years and another 2 years as a senior judge.

R.I.P.Judge Recanzone.People cross are paths in the craziest way's sometime's and even though our paths crossed when I was a young lost kid in a court room I will never forget what you said to me after you sent me to prison.I am clean and sober today and I am a productive member of society and those words you told allowed me to dig deep into my inner most self and find the man I am today.
