June 9, 2011

Sharon passed away June 9, 2011 in Reno, Nevada with her husband J.D. Mayes, of Reno, by her side. Sharon was born in Dupree, South Dakota to Orlie and Velma Jewett. Sharon has lived in Belle Fourche, South Dakota; Chico, California; Boise, Idaho; as well as Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada. Sharon moved back to Reno 12 years ago to be closer to her beloved children, Brian Hartshorn of Reno and Shelly Pastejovsky of Chico. Sharon loved music, and boy, could she dance and sing! She enjoyed playing the guitar and poker machines. Sharon was extremely proud that she had worked at AT&T for over 10 years and was set to retire on July 1, 2011. Sharon was preceded in death by her father Orlie, who passed away 25 years ago to the day. Sharon is survived by her husband; J.D., daughter; Shelly and her husband Mike Pastejovsky, son; Brian and his wife Lisa Hartshorn. Sharon is also survived by her mother; Velma Jewett of Reno, sister; Sandra and her husband, Jack Hicks of St. George, Utah, her brother; Orlin and his wife, Nancy Jewett of Tucson, Arizona, sister; Ellen Jewett of Las Vegas; brother; Gary Jewett of Reno, her stepdaughter; Jami Mayes of Kalispell, Montana, stepson; Aaron and Sylvia Mayes of Las Vegas, 11 grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Sharon will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but she will never be forgotten. No services will be held.

Sharon was not only my co-worker, but a friend and someone who would help without asking. I've known Sharon for more than 10 years, since she came to work for "the phone company" (AT&T Nevada). Whenever I needed support for charity walks, she never failed to get involved for the children with a generous donation. Always had a smile on her face, never a harsh word, and so thrilled when she and J.D. became husband and wife, and moved into their new home. I recall saving many boxes for her, so she could pack and move. The support I received from her when our dear son passed and during my wife's illness, was just part of her demeanor. I miss her already, as do so many others. Her office chair may be empty, but our hearts are full with her graciousness, her generosity and she touched so many. I love and miss you, my good friend. I know you're solving many puzzles and keeping the angels smiling.

I am so sorry to hear of Sharon's passing. I worked at the same company that Sharon did for several years. I would see her every morning, always a smile, and always with her little bag of cheetos. She was a beautiful person, inside and out. My deepest sympathy to her family and loved ones.
