Kent passed away peacefully October 8, 2013 at home surrounded by family in Reno NV, after a long difficult fight with multiple myeloma and a brief bout with pneumonia, at the age of 77.

Kent was born to George and Ella Davis on March 26, 1936 in Vernal, Utah. Kent is survived by sons, Mike Davis (Maria) of Reno, NV and Todd Davis of Los Angeles, CA. Grandchildren Anthony Davis, Colby Shinn, Shane Davis, Bailey Davis, Tara Shinn, Makaela Davis, Michael Davis and Meghan Davis and a great-grandson, Ryan Davis. He is also survived by his brothers Wayne (Joyce) Davis, Max (Barbara) Davis and Mark Davis and his sister Leah Rae Peterson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife (Reva, 2010) and daughter (Darian, 2004) who both passed away on September 18.

Kent graduated from Vernal High School in 1954 and while growing up was always busy with school activities (sports: wrestling, football), church and working at a variety of jobs to include driving an 18 wheeler for an oil producer and working at a mortuary when time permitted (we have all heard many a story from this time period). Dad moved on to Brigham Young University (BYU) and studied Management Science and Business Law while riding big bulls on the rodeo team. He then made his way to Sacramento, CA where he worked at Aero-jet, which was big into the Polaris missile program at the time and Dad was definitely in his environment while working as the right hand man for the director of the program, Dr. Kirschner. Kent left Aero-jet in 1966 and started working for Travelers Insurance Company when cold calls meant just that. Not surprisingly, Dad made quite a name for himself and was quickly promoted to Production Manager and became a specialist in the Living Trust concept within the insurance industry. Dad moved the family down to Southern California in 1971 due to another promotion and was quite active in the local community to include the Rotary Club, Boy Scouts of America and being president of the football parents club for the local high school (Claremont HS). Kent was offered his deal of a lifetime in 1981 and took a chance and moved to Reno, NV where he made many personal friends and business associates while making Bayly, Martin, & Faye, INC. of Nevada and then Rollins, Burdick, & Hunter of Nevada into widely known Third-Party Administration (TPA) powerhouses. Kent was never one to sit back and rest on accomplishments and in 1992 moved to Anchorage, Alaska to take over a TPA company but upon his arrival the company was sold to a rival company based in Chicago, IL and dad had to make a choice: either move with the company to Chicago or stay put in Alaska and do something new. Dad started his own TPA Company "Risk & Benefit Management Services" (RBMS) and became the only locally owned company to be stationed entirely in the state. Kent turned the RBMS name into a major player with over 65 employees and in 2005 was able to see his baby be bought out by a prominent national company and he was able to finally retire back to Reno, NV with his bride.

Kent had a wide variety of interests to include electronics, local sports teams, ATVing in the backcountry of Alaska, going on cruises with his honey, participating at all the various activities that his grandchildren were part of and his most favorite was to hang out with his cattle drive buddies on their annual party, they made it all come together.

Dad was putting together a trilogy of history focusing on his grandfather, father and himself and while the first two books were completed, his own memoir will be finished with the help of everybody and should be a nice closure to a fantastic journey that Dad called life.

A viewing will be held on October 28th from 10:00am to 12:00pm followed by the services and burial at Mountain View Mortuary on 425 Stoker Ave, in Reno, NV. A reception will follow at the same location at approximately 2:00pm immediately following the burial.

In lieu of flowers or donations, Dad has requested that everybody look at helping out their local Boy Scouts of America chapter and help out accordingly.
