David Armbrecht Obituary

David Neil Armbrecht

Nov. 14, 1970

May 31, 2016

On the afternoon of May 31, 2016, Dave Armbrecht unexpectedly passed away at the age of 45. Dave was born in Anchorage, Alaska on November 14, 1970. He was the third child and only son of Jean Kelczewski and Neil David Armbrecht.

Dave grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. He graduated from Alhambra High School in 1989. He then attended Glendale Community College before working as a graphic designer for Spectrum Astro. Dave married Julie Furleigh in 2001 and was blessed with a son, Jack Thomas, in 2004. In 2007 he and his family moved to Reno, Nevada. Dave was a talented artist as well as a computer wizard. He worked as a tech artist for IGT in Reno.

Dave loved the outdoors almost as much as he loved Mexican food. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and hiking. All of which were enjoyed even more with a burrito combo and margarita. He was an easy-going guy who was willing to do anything for anyone.

Dave is survived by his wife, Julie, and son, Jack; his mother and step-father, Jean and Jim Ray; and two sisters, Tricia Hendry and Jenny Pasch.

His Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, June 14 at 3 PM at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Reno, Nevada, followed by a reception at Casa Grande Mexican Restaurant, 1655 Robb Drive, Reno.

His family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations are sent to the Jack Armbrecht Scholarship Fund. To contribute, please go to Ugift529.com and use the code: J67-282. Thank you.

For as long as I can remember, and up until our mom passed earlier this year cousin Davy's drawing of our weird beagle was displayed on the wall. My kids asked about it when they visited Gramma's, about who drew it and I told them it was my cousin and that we would meet him some day and that he liked to fish and stuff like their dad and that he drew that picture when he was little and that he was a professional computer artist now and that he was really good at it. I last saw my cousin Davy in the 1980s I think, but always expected that we would cross paths again, maybe get out to a ball game or wet a line up in the Sierras... that my kids would get to meet the man who drew that picture on Gramma's wall. I'm so sad that we aren't going to get to do that. So sad that we let time slip without getting together. My heart goes out to Jean, Tricia, and Jen ... and to Julie and Jack who I have yet to meet. Our thoughts are with you all... Love from Cousin Scott Tobias, wife Raquel, Eva and Sammy.

Dave will be missed by all who knew him. Take a bit of comfort in knowing he was a Christian, and is with God in Heaven as He promised us all who receive Him. Knowing Dave for 35 years seems like the blink of an eye. Hundreds of happy memories will remain with us until we see Dave again in Heaven.
