Jacob Haller Lawson Jr.

Jacob Haller (Junior) Lawson Jr., 86, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2010, at his home in Wytheville, Va., surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Max Meadows, Va., and was a respected member of the Wytheville business community throughout his career. He was a co-owner of Hobert N. Grubb Corporation and a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where he was formerly Sunday School Superintendent and lay leader for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob H. Sr. and Mary Holston Lawson; and his wife of 56 years, Edna Elizabeth "Tootsie" Hedrick Lawson. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Patty Hurst, of Wytheville, Sylvia and Dwight Shelton ,of Blacksburg, and Betsy and Gary Gillman, of Wytheville; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jamie Hurst, Chris and Laura Shelton, Jeff and Laura Shelton, and Michael Gillman; and a grea-grandson, Jacob Dwight Shelton. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2010, at the Mt. Pleasant UMC with the Rev. Joe Mack Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Mt.
