Steven King Obituary

Steven Gregory King, 48, of Dublin, Va., born January 3, 1962, died suddenly September 12, 2010. Steve was a loving father, husband, son, brother, and friend. He was known for his robust nature and found enjoyment in outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, camping, and boating. Steve was family focused and loved family activities, especially large extended family gatherings. He often had a prank to play or an endless reminder of a blunder someone had made. Steve's smile and expressive eyes let people know he cared for them, and he was often the first to offer help. He was a Radford Bobcat, but his son's and daughter's activities had him watching many Pulaski Cougar games and matches. Steve worked at Yokohama Tire in Salem for 25 years as a supervisor and plant planner. He is sadly missed, until he is met again, by his large and loving family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frances and Truman McCraw and Etha Janey; his father-in-law, John East Jr.; and his cousin, Lisa Gravely Brown. Survivors include his loving wife of 24 years, Regina East King; his son, Tyler King and daughter, Lauren Brooke King; his parents, Bill and Pat King, of Claytor Lake; brother, Mike King and his wife, Leslie and their children, Lydia and James Michael, of Pulaski; loving sister, Beth King, of Roanoke; mother-in-law, Joyce East, of Christiansburg; sister-in-law, Chelista Linkous and husband, Todd and their daughter, Ashley, of Christiansburg; brother-inlaw, Karry East and wife, Stephanie and their children, Brittany East, Kymber Mitchell, Ryan East, Alexya East and Karah East, of Dublin; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at the Pulaski Church of God on Bob White Blvd. with Bishop Jerry Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park in Radford. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to the Pulaski Church of God, Children's Church Fund, P.O. Box 2109, Pulaski, Va. 24301. The King family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. (www.mullinsfuneral home.com)

The King family and friends;
Our most sincere sympathies to all.
I worked with Steve for 9 years at Yokohama. I had moved there from out of state, and Steve was the first person to make me feel comfortable by asking me to go hunting and fishing with him. His friendship and generosity will be sorely missed.

TO The King Family, Regina and Steve's beautiful children, I am so sorry to here the news about Steve. I had not seen Steve in years but he was a big and important part of my life growing up in Radford, and he was always a good friend to everyone. He taught me important things like how to go four wheeling in the mud , drive in the snow properly after I slide us in to a big snow bank, and he got me to eat deer meat...many more good times. Steve will forever have a place in my heart and memories. god bless all of you in your time of loss.

Steve took every chance he could to talk about his kids. You could not ask for a better coworker and friend. He talked about days fishing with his brother at Claytor lake and was so proud of his time hunting with his son and father. He really enjoyed camping out while hunting and just relaxing around the fire at night with friends and family.
He definately lived his life to the fullest. Thanks for being such a good person Steve.
