Sylvia Sutphin Jones

Sylvia Sutphin (Granny) Jones, 91, of Pulaski, Va., went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 18, 2010, in the Highland Ridge Rehab Center. She was born in Pulaski County on August 8, 1918, and was the daughter of the late George Washington Sutphin and Emmezetta Hylton Sutphin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Jones; a daughter, Janice Jones Cox; and a granddaughter, Joni Jones Quesenberry. Mrs. Jones was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pulaski. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Joretta Jones and Elray Hanks, of Christiansburg, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Brenda Jones, of Newbern, Va.; granddaughters, Robin Jones Davidson, of Draper, Va., Judy Jones Harmon, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Lorri Hanks Grayson, of Middletown, Del., Jane Hanks McTier, of Keezletown, Va., Emily Cox Deal, of Watkinsville, Ga., and Kim Cox Anderson, of Tiaga Cay, S.C.; grandsons, Cliff Jones, of Gatlinburg, Tenn., Jeff Hanks, of Mosley, Va., and Justin Jones, of Charlotte, N.C.; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; special cousins, Hoover Mitchell, of Draper, Va., and Curry Mitchell, of Sylvatus, Va.; and special son-in-law, Jimmy Cox and wife, Barkey, of High Point, N.C. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, from the First United Methodist Church, Pulaski, with the Rev. Hugh Kilgore officiating. Visiting will be held on Wednesday at the church where the family will be receiving friends from noon until service hour.
