Caroll Reid Obituary

Caroll Wade (Fatty) (CW) (Pete) Reid, 83, of Eagle Rock, joined his family and friends in heaven on Thursday, July 8, 2010. He was born November 3, 1926 and was preceded in death by his parents, Olin Floyd and Clara Mae Rice Reid; brothers, Grady Reid and Linden Reid; and sister, Zelma Reid Harris. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Helen Dooley Reid; son, Michael W. Reid (Mike) and wife, Lynn of Roanoke; grandson, Chris Reid and wife, Athena; great-granddaughter, Maryssa Reid; great-grandson, Zayne Reid all of Salem; sister, Regina Womack of Halifax; sisters-in-law, Ama Reid of Salem, Faye Reid of Roanoke; special niece, Diane Roberts and several nieces and nephews. He was retired from Gala Industries and worked at Eagle Rock Garage most of his life. He was a member of Eagle Rock Baptist Church, charter and life member of Eagle Rock Volunteer Fire Department; charter member of Fincastle Volunteer Fire Department; life member of Eagle Rock Rescue Squad, life member of Botetourt County Fire Fighters Association, and Eagle Rock Ruritan Club. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 in the Eagle Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Ronk and the Rev. Glenn Stevens officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Eagle Rock Fire and Rescue, Blue Ridge Fire Department, Read Mountain Fire and Rescue, or the Eagle Rock Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. Special thanks to the dedicated staff of Carrington Place at Daleville. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, July 11, 2010 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home (254-3000).
