Edith Harvey Ingram

Edith Harvey Ingram, 98, of Pearisburg, Va., passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. Mrs. Ingram was born on April 4, 1912, grew up on the family farm "Mountain View" near Brookneal in Campbell County, was a daughter of the late Edgar Brown and Leila Coleman Harvey and was the youngest of eight children. She graduated from Virginia Commercial Business College in Lynchburg and married Raymond M. Ingram in 1958 and they settled in Pearisburg, where Raymond owned and operated Ingram Furniture Company. In Pearisburg, she very soon came to love the people, the community and the beautiful mountains. Edith and Raymond were devoted to each other for 25 years. After Raymond's death in 1983, Edith devoted her time and her love to her community and to her church. She was a devoted member of Castle Rock Baptist Church. She supported various community and religious organizations and provided scholarships to many Giles County students. She was a dedicated Board Member and supporter of Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va. Edith also was a supporter of the Giles Memorial Hospital where she volunteered countless hours as a member of the hospital's auxiliary service organization. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Castle Rock Baptist Church in Pembroke with Dr. Fred L. Austin and the Rev. Roger J. Roller officiating with family receiving friends one hour before the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Entombment will follow in the Birchlawn Cemetery in Pearisburg.
